Overview
Ledgerly is a business account built for freelancers and one-person companies. The team had a solid banking platform, but an app that felt like three separate products stitched together: a current account, an invoicing tool and a savings pot that nobody could find. I joined as lead product designer to bring them together into one experience over eight months.
The challenge
In interviews with 24 freelancers, the same story kept coming up. People sent an invoice, forgot to chase it, and then panicked at the end of the quarter because they hadn't put anything aside for tax. The app already had every feature needed to prevent this, but the features never talked to each other.
What I did
- Mapped the full money cycle, from quote to invoice to payment to tax, and redesigned the app around it.
- Designed a single home screen that shows what you are owed, what has arrived and what is safe to spend.
- Introduced automatic tax pots that set aside a percentage of every payment the moment it lands.
- Prototyped and tested three versions of payment reminders until they felt helpful rather than pushy.

The outcome
The new app launched in spring 2026. Invoices are now paid 41% faster on average, thanks largely to the gentle reminder sequence, and two thirds of active customers use a tax pot. Support requests asking where a payment had gone dropped by more than half within the first month.
